Bedford Highway Department Teamsters Ratify 3.5 year Contract

On May 8, 2008 the Teamsters Local 633 members who work at the Town of
Bedford Highway Department ratified their 3 1/2 year contract by a 12-1 margin in a contract ratification vote. "This agreement represents an excellent package for the employees who provide the best valuable & professional services for the Town of Bedford. I would like to thank N.N.E.B.T. Fund Director Gabe Dumont & Secretary-Treasurer David Laughton & my Steward Wayne Harressey & my
Alternate Steward Paul Mathieu for great work on behalf of our members, our members took some giant steps forward with this agreement . I would also like to thank the Town's bargaining committee for their thoughtful and professional approach to negotiations. " Said Business Agent Kevin Foley.

The Agreement includes some of the following highlights:
Wages increases in each year of the contract up to 6% each year Health insurance including dental, vision, life through Northern New England Benefit Trust (N.N.E.B.T.) with no weekly co-pays
New - Longevity payments for employees annually for years of service
New - 100% Town paid Short term disability
New - 100% Town paid Long term disability
New - Additional members of the family included in Bereavement Leave
New - Members can now accrue compensation time year to year
New - Probationary employees are entitled to vacation at the conclusion of
probation
New - Sick time included in the calculation of overtime
New - Pay ranges adjusted yearly
