Teamsters Local 633 Wins Unemployment Hearing for Manchester Police Employee

1/25/2012

Teamsters Local 633 representing Sister Donna Grady who was an employee for the Police Department when she was terminated for alleged work place violence incident involving a co-worker. Sister Grady at the urging of her Business Agent Rick Laughton properly filed a grievance protesting her unjust termination and that is moving forward in that arena.

Sister Grady also filed for unemployment compensation and was denied.

An appeal hearing was held before the New Hampshire Employment Security Division on January 25, 2012 and Sister Grady was represented by Teamsters Local 633 Business Agent Kevin Foley.

“I believe the Board made the proper decision given all the facts and Claimants credible testimony that was involved in this case and there was a very complete record in this regard. An isolated incident that is not recurring in nature which arose out of embarrassment, coupled with the good record of the employee does not always add up to “cause” or just cause for discharge. At some point an assessment has to be made and it was not. She will be paid unemployment compensation with retro back pay to present and I believe she is very happy about that. It was a team effort all the way around.” Said Business Agent Kevin Foley.

Under the Leadership of Secretary –Treasurer David Laughton Teamsters Local 633 of New Hampshire has 4,200 members and represents numerous Professional Police Officers and Support Staff employees.
