Dave became a full-time Teamster member in 1971, and was elected to the position of Business Agent in 1977.

In 1983, Dave was elected as Secretary/Treasurer and Principal Officer of Local 633. Since his election to the post of Principal Officer, Dave has been elected by his peers as both Secretary/Treasurer Director and Secretary/Treasurer Director of the Brewery & Soft Drink Conference. Dave also serves as Chairman of the IBT Health & Pension Benefits Committee.

In 1977, Dave was appointed as a Trustee on the Board of Northern New England Benefit Trust. In 1986, he became the Chairman of that fund.

In 1981, Dave was appointed to serve on the Board of Teamsters Joint Council #10 and in 1992, he was elected to the position of President of the Joint Council.

In 1987, Dave was appointed as a Trustee on the New England Teamsters and Trucking Industry Pension Fund. He is currently the Union Co-Chairman of that fund.

In 1999, Dave became a Director of Heritage Property Investment Inc.

Dave also serves on the following Government Boards for the State of New Hampshire:

• State of New Hampshire, Penalty Appeal Board
• New Hampshire Advisory Committee on International Trade
